Orange Peanut Fruit Dip

Orange Peanut Fruit Dip

Orange Peanut Fruit Dip is perfect for snack time, dessert or even a light meal.  Adults and kids will love this creamy dip with fruit or biscuits.

I was rummaging through my recipe files this weekend and came across this little gem and thought it was time to share this one. Most of us like dips for various finger foods and this one is very good and could even be called healthy (compared to many of the sweet fruit dips available commercially). Children, particularly, like dips and will eat almost anything if a dip is provided.

This recipe originally called for sour cream but I think yogurt is nicer, especially the vanilla yogurt.  I specified Greek yogurt in the recipe as it is thick like the sour cream but any kind of yogurt will do. The dip may be a little thinner but that is of little consequence if it tastes just as good.  Peanut butter tends to be able to absorb quite a bit of liquid before it gets runny.

I made half a recipe this afternoon and we made quick work of the dip.  Nan and Evelyn had a taste, I ate several pieces and Don finished off the plate.  I may have to make more for breakfast, ha, ha.

Printable recipe at end of post.
Orange Peanut Fruit Dip
  • ½ cup smooth peanut butter
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange rind
  • Pinch of salt if using natural unsalted peanut butter, optional
How to make it:
Combine peanut butter, orange juice and yogurt in a small deep mixer bowl.  If you are using natural unsalted peanut butter a pinch of salt will help enhance the flavour. Beat until mixture is light and fluffy.  You can do this by hand or use an electric mixer.  Blend in orange rind.  Cover and chill until ready to use.  Stir before serving.

Serve with sliced or small whole fruit/berries such as apple or pear wedges, sliced or small whole strawberries, grapes, orange segments or banana chunks, etc. Also good with graham crackers or similar plain biscuits.

Makes a little less than a 1½ cups of dip.

Place the peanut butter, orange juice and yogurt in a small deep bowl.  Add a pinch of salt if using natural unsalted peanut butter.

Using a hand mixer or a spoon, whip the ingredients together until thick and fluffy.

You will need 1 tablespoon or grated orange rind.  Do this before you juice the orange.  If your orange is not large enough for a full tablespoon use whatever it yields.

Blend the orange rind into the creamed mixture.

Chill the mixture until ready to serve.  Stir before placing in a serving dish.

Surround the dip with an assortment of fruit and maybe a few crackers.

Apples and the Orange Peanut Fruit Dip complement each other with each tasty bite.  Most fruit will taste so good with this combination.

Don't forget to add a few crackers to the tray.  "Yummy good," as the kids would say.
